How to get to Moritzburg Castle from Dresden

Line 477 runs from Dresden-Neustadt in the direction of Radeburg and stops at Moritzburg Schloss. From the stop it is a few minutes on foot to the water. This is the route I would give anybody who wants to be at the castle at a particular time, because a bus is a bus and it does what the timetable says.
The steam railway, which is the good one
S1 out of Dresden to Radebeul Ost, then the Lößnitzgrundbahn, a narrow-gauge steam line that runs up the valley to Moritzburg. I live in Radebeul and I take this more often than I will admit, and I am not going to pretend it is the efficient choice. It is slower and it is the reason to come. If you have a whole day and no train to catch in the evening, take it out and take the bus back.
By car
A4, exit Dresden-Wilder Mann, or A13, exit Radeburg. There are four car parks at the castle and one of them is free, which is worth knowing before you follow the first sign you see. Where to leave the car.

Bus frequencies and steam-railway departures change with the season, and a page written in September is not a departure board. Check the operators on the morning you travel, and give yourself margin at the far end, because last entry is an hour and a quarter before the doors shut in both seasons.
